Hip Hop

Hip Hop/Rap is a huge musical genre in modern times. It started off in the 1970s as an urban movement in New York City. The first main elements of hip hop were DJing, rapping, graffiti painting, and B-boying which was the overall style of dance, and attitude. Rap includes lyrical and rhythmic lines sung over a beat, nowadays produced by someone electronically. Beats include kicks, snares, drums, and piano or other sampled melodies.

Rap has evolved over time, moving from the Old School Rap era to the New School Rap, to the golden age of Hip Hop. Many stars and millionaires have came out of this genre, and gained huge fanbases. It started off with people like 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G., The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, and more. It went through stars like 50 Cent, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and the most modern stars include Lil Uzi Vert, Logic, Drake, ect.

Over time, people have been accused of mumble rap, and a lot of people say that rap does not require much skill at all. But, many rappers put meaning and purpose into their lyrics along with flow that makes the song sound good, which brings them to the top.
