The Titanic was a British boat that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in the early morning hours of 15 April 1912, after it collided with an iceberg during its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. It was built by a company named White Star Line, who has since ceased operations in 1934. The design company was Harland and Wolff, which is still around today. They started to build the Titanic in Belfast Ireland, in April, 1910. On April 2, 1912 the Titanic left Belfast and went to South Hampton England where they picked up most of the crew and passengers. The captain of the ships was Edward John Smith, who had earned himself the tile of "millionares captain". Titanic left Southampton on April 10, 1912, with 2,223 people aboard, 1,324 passengers and 908 crew, 1,503 of them died. Her travel distance was about 3000 miles.On Arpil 14, just before midnight the Titanic struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic, she went under at 2:20am.
